Girls Soccer: Challengers Show Strong 2nd Half Defensive Effort
Cascade Christian 1, North Valley 3
Grants Pass, OR — After North Valley put three goals on the board in the first half, Cascade Christian cinched up the defense in the second, keeping the Knights out of the net in a 3-1 loss. Autumn Murray scored a late goal- her third of the season- to avoid the shutout.
Murray’s goal was set up by the playmaking of Ellie Vanlandingham, who won a free kick. Coach Jonathan Hillis credits his senior midfielder for solid work in the defensive third, stopping breakaway dribbles.
Defensively, Jordynn Jones starred for Cascade. Josie Scaglione stopped 11 shots to limit the damage by North Valley.
Hillis also noted the play of striker Taylor Folin.
With the win, North Valley- a program with a strong history- goes to 3-1. With the loss, Cascade Christian goes 2-3 and continues growing and getting better.
