Recap
Close ones hurt
San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions hosted the Monarchs today and the outcome was very close. Round 1 ended 4-2 in JSerra's favor; 6-6 after round 2 and 9-9 after round 3.
Peyton and Madison faced several match points in a round 1 tiebreaker and fought back for a 10-8 victory. Madison repeated this feat in round 3, in front of both teams, parents and fans. This time with partner Elliana, they too were down 3-6 in the breaker but prevailed with a 9-7 victory. This sent the 9-9 tie to the scoreboard, where it was determined, JSerra lost by 2 measly games.
Winning 2 of 3 sets played in singles was Alexandra as did the trio of Maddy, Peyton and Elliana. But, the big sweep was by the Lions line #1 trio of Collette, Kate and Chiara. It is no fun to lose, but, it is better now than at the next level. Lessons learned from closing out matches, trying harder to get just 1 more game before losing, importance of immediately reporting correct score to the coaches are part of the maturation process from frosh to jv to varsity.
We will be at it again tomorrow!
Go Lions!!!
