San Juan Capistrano, CA — Our JV tennis team ended the first round of Trinity League play this afternoon with a strong 16 - 2 win over the visiting Lancers from Orange Lutheran. JSerra JV has an 12 - 3 record, with a 5 - 0 win / loss league record standing alone in first place. Neeka Barkhordar and Sophia Staff gave us 2 quick wins over their top 2 players before being sub’d out. Jacqueline Poli and Alma Bayat stepped in the play rounds 2 and 3, thank you. MVP honors today go to those who won 3 sets played: Hailey Klein in singles. Ava Hetland and Olivia Nowlan in doubles; Colette Chang with Isabella Aftabi, also in doubles. And, last but not least - Sophia Stewart in doubles. Congrats to all of you, well played today. Others in the 100% club, (who most likely would have won all 3 had we not made substitutions): Sophia Staff and Neeka Barkhordar in singles (both 1 for 1), Alma Bayat in singles (2 for 2), Cecilia Nama 1 for 1 in doubles and Caitlyn Davidson 2 for 2, both partnering with Sophia Stewart. HUGE week coming up with Mater Dei and Santa Margarita, both wanting a piece of our 1st place standing. Play some tennis this weekend!…we do not have practice on Friday or Monday.
