San Juan Capistrano, CA — JSerra JV team took an early season Trinity League lead this afternoon after posting their 2nd straight Trinity win, this time against the defending league champs: SMCHS Eagles. In a pretty balanced attack, we won 5 of 9 singles sets and 7 of 9 doubles sets. Kudos to the MVP’s of today’s match: Olivia Nowlan and Ava Hetland who not only won all 3 sets played today (only ones who did this) - they did so convincingly: 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. Triple Bagels - wow !!! Natalia Gitibin and Cecilia Nama won 2 of 2 played; Hailey Klein and Isabella Aftabi won their only set in the opening round - all 4 joining the 100% club today. Caitlyn Davidson and Sophia Stewart picked up our 7th set win in round 2. Neeka Barkhordar and Sophia Staff both won 2 of 3 sets played in singles, while Alma Bayat picked up our 5th set win in a 2nd round tie-breaker 7-6 (7-0!). Singles was tough going in this afternoon’s heat. Hats off to all 6 young ladies from both teams who battled each other and the heat. With hard work, we can repeat both these wins and take the league title later next month. Keep up the goods work ladies. Next up: this SATURDAY at 1pm, home vs Bishop Gorman from Las Vegas.
