St. Margaret's literally had not practiced or played a match, having scrapped 12 days due to heat. So, this was like starting the NFL with no preseason games OR practices. On top of that, the Tartans #1 girl was out with a wrist injury... The Lions doubles teams continue to shine, sweeping all 9 sets played. We dropped 2 legitimate sets in singles and defaulted another as I subbed a player that had been taken out, just to get some experience. Scarlett played 1 set before being subbed out by Halle, who promptly beat the line #2 and#1 Tartans. ..they techinically scored a "CoCo's combo sweeping their 3 combined sets. Sweeping all 3 respective sets were Anna/Aerin. and Kylie/Sophie while Jazmine took 3 singles sets. Elise and Gabbi were subbed out in round 3 by Bella and Ellie, who took their set for another CoCo's combo. Bella joined us today from JV and got her first ever varsity win! "I am proud of our girls, practicing and competing in the heat without complaining, It is a good sign of maturity," notes KOach. JV was canceled, enabling Keith to join us and help coach, post Blast while Larry and Kylie helped with the new score board! We have a tough next week; El Toro on Monday, but Aliso, who I dont' think we have ever beaten and then a CIF championship rematch AT Foothill next Thursday! GO LIONS!
