Garrettsville, OH — The Boardman Freshmen Baseball team grinded out a 15-13 victory against Garrettsville Garfield thanks in large part to a strong offensive effort. The Spartan offense pounded out 16 hits led by Grayson Eicher who went 4-4, scored 3 runs, and added an RBI. Kaden Mayhew went 2-4 with 3 runs, and an RBI. Ivan Rudiak, Landon Whippo and Cory Pekkanen each had two hits and 2 RBIs. Mason Nawrocki added two of his own hits and added an RBI. Rounding out the offense, Jayden Doerr and Dom Pizzo both had a hit and an RBI. Pekkanen 4.1 innings and earned the win in his first start of the year. Whippo closed out the game to earn the save. Mayhew played a strong defensive game behind the dish. The Spartans improve to 5-6 and look to continue their winning streak against Perry tomorrow evening.
