Modesto, CA — Dirtdogs Lujan claimed a 10-3 victory on Sunday, despite a big push by California Wildcats Smith in the third inning. The offensive firepower by California Wildcatz was led by Kiersten Jara and Andria Leyba, who drove in runs. The Dirtdogs fired up the offense in the first inning. Makenzie Cantu drove in one when Cantu tripled. The Dirtdogs put up five runs in the second inning. Dirtdogs batters contributing to the big inning included Carly Jimenez, Alexis Ruvalcaba, McKinly Meister and Avery Smith, who each had RBIs in the inninig. Sophia Martinez got the win for the Dirtdogs. The right-hander allowed one hit and zero runs over two and a third innings, striking out two. Daniella Escamilla threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Amelia Martinez took the loss for California Wildcatz. The righty surrendered three runs on five hits over two innings. Jara started the game for California Wildcatz. The right-hander lasted three innings, allowing six hits and seven runs while striking out one and walking zero. The Dirtdogs tallied 11 hits on the day. Cantu, Meister and Ruvalcaba each collected multiple hits for the Dirtdogs. Cantu led the team with three hits in three at bats. Samantha Scharton went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the California Wildcatz in hits.
