Modesto, CA — Dirtdogs Lujan ran off with the lead late in the game in a 4-3 victory over Foothill Gold Woodcock on Saturday. The Dirtdogs trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Melanie Mendoza singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. Foothill Gold scored three runs in the fourth inning, but the Dirtdogs still managed to pull out the victory. Foothill Gold scored its runs on a home run by #19 Tuua. The Dirtdogs got things moving in the first inning when Mendoza doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Sophia Martinez was the winning pitcher for the Dirtdogs. The righty lasted five innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out three. #40 Sardo took the loss for Foothill Gold. The pitcher went four innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out two. The Dirtdogs scattered six hits in the game. McKinly Meister and Mendoza each collected two hits to lead the team in offense.
