Boardman, OH — The Boardman Freshmen Baseball team gutted out a tough 8-5 victory against Canfield for their third straight win. Landon Whippo battled his way through 5 innings giving up 2 earned runs while striking out 4. Mason Nawrocki once again entered in relief, this time earning the win in 1.2 innings as he struck out 4 batters as well. The Spartan offense woke up in the sixth inning after Whippo launched his second homerun of the season to spark the rally. Nawrocki paced the offense going 3-4 with an RBI and run scored. Whippo went 2-4 with the homer. Cory Pekkanen went 2-4 with an RBI double and two runs scored. Ivan Rudiak, Max Switka, and Aaron Glista each added a hit and an RBI. Grayson Eicher added a hit to round it out. Tommy Varley scored two runs and Kaden Mayhew added one as well.
