Boardman, OH — he Boardman Freshmen Baseball team earned a well played 4-2 victory against Akron Hoban. Cory Pekkanen was sensational on the hill going 6.1 innings giving up only 2 earned runs while striking out 7 and earning the win. Mason Nawrocki came in to get the last two outs to earn the save. Offensively the Spartans got just enough as Nawrocki had a huge 2 RBI single in the fifth inning to capture the lead. Kaden Mayhew added a hit, RBI, and run scored. Grayson Eicher tallied the final hit and scored a run as well. Max Switka and Sean O’Mellan did a great job turning the lineup over by each reaching base twice in key situations.
