Fairfield, CA — Vanden Vikings Varsity Clinches Lead In Sixth Inning To Defeat Vacaville Vanden Vikings Varsity stole the lead late and defeated Vacaville 3-2 on Tuesday. The game was tied at one with Vanden Vikings Varsity batting in the bottom of the sixth when Erick Diez doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. The pitching was strong on both sides. Vanden Vikings Varsity pitchers struck out six, while Vacaville pitchers sat down 11. Trevor Morse pitched Vanden to victory. The righthander allowed one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking zero. Diez threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Diez recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Vikings. Aidan Russell took the loss for Vacaville.
