Burnt Hills, NY — The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans defeated Bethlehem Central 1-0 on Monday as two pitchers combined to throw a 3 hit shutout. Timothy Venditti induced a groundout from Joe Monserrat to finish off the save.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Burnt Hills pitchers struck out ten, while Brendan Pajak sat down six for Bethlehem.
The Spartans opened up scoring in the first inning, when Kyle DeCresce's sac fly scored one run for Burnt Hills after a leadoff triple by Timmy Venditti.
A double by C.J. Franchini in the first inning was a positive for Bethlehem Central.
Logan McNeal took the win for Burnt Hills, his second career Varsity win and first as a starter. The righty went four innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out six. Venditti threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Venditti recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for the Spartans.
Pajak took the loss for Bethlehem Central. The hurler allowed two hits and one run over six innings, striking out six and walking one.
John Wells and Venditti each had one hit to lead Burnt Hills.
Franchini went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Bethlehem Central in hits.
