Fountain Valley, CA — Playing a regular format: 9 singles sets + 9 doubles sets, JSerra improved by one set from a 15-3 all doubles loss earlier in the season. 2 of our set wins came in doubles, while 2 came in singles in a balanced attack. Brooke Bowman defeated Mater Dei’s top player in the opening round: 6-1, earning herself MVP honors today. Faith Blower played over an hour in the opening round, only to come up short, losing 4-6. However, she bounced back with a 6-1 win in round 2, earning MVP honors. Both doubles victories came in round #3. Abby Godber and Mary Murphy won 6-2 in the final round; while Jacqueline Poli and Elliana Castro beat Mater Dei’s top player in doubles 6-3 in the 3rd round. This was a well played set - MVP’s! Both Mason Breneman and Jordan Gross played singles today for the first time and gave some great efforts. Jordan played for a long time, losing 3-6 vs a very strong opponent.
