San Juan Capistrano, CA — Orange Lutheran showed up a bit short-handed this afternoon and had to forfeit 3 sets of singles. Even with the extra set of rest for our singles players, nobody was able to upset their top player, who only lost 3 games in 3 sets. That was the only 3 sets the Lancers won, as the Lady Lions swept all doubles: 9 sets to zero. MVP honors go out to all our doubles players for making the 100% club today! Line 1 doubles: Hailey Klein with Co-Captain Fionnuala McClain, played all 3 sets together and will enter the Trinity League tournament as a team. Erica Gonzalez and Lauren Walcott at Line 2 dubs won 2 straight sets; then Lauren and Sophie Coffin won the final set 6-0. Co-Captain Sofia Recupero and Katherine Dygean at Line #3 also won 2 straight sets, before Ava Zell stepped in for Katherine to win another set to complete the 9-0 run. Singles played the longest and hardest. Each player had a rest with a paper default win vs the missing #3 Lancer; nobody beat #1, although there were some nice, long points played by all 3: Alma Bayat, Ava Hetland, Cecilia Nama. Each defeated OLu’s #2 player respectively: 6-1, 6-3, 7-5. Next up: Monday vs Mater Dei at Los Caballeros, 2:30pm.
