Fountain Valley, CA — JSerra Lions traveled to Fountain Valley [Mater Dei does not have tennis courts on their campus] to play the monarchs today and were shown why the Trinity League is the toughest League in the nation! The Lions singles were completely over powered, coach subbed 3 people in, trying to get a foothold, to no avail. Elise and Victoria battled hard for us in the 1st and 2nd spots, respectively. while Rosalia, Natalia and Halley rotated in. JSerra's doubles teams competed very well, coach saw a lot of improvement coming from situation-specific doubles drills at practice this week. No one could nudge the Monarchs #1 team off their perch, but, all of our teams upended lines 2 and 3 for the 6 sets. Anna Ciraci with Aerin Fraize, Sophia Moncur with Kylie Davidson and Gabbi Basa with Jazmine Aftabi were the doubles participants today for JSerra. "I saw some great shot selection from the dubs today," says KOach Kirk Orahood... "well-placed volleys, overheads, defensive shots played to the correct targets and serving accuracy with high percentages. Driving home, I felt like we had just come away with a win. Had it been a doubles event only, we would have." So, JSerra finds themselves in sole possession of 2nd place in The Trinity and ramps right back up with round two, at Santa Margarita next Tuesday! GO LIONS !
