Fountain Valley, CA — Our Frosh Soph B & C “travel” squads battled Barons after battling Brookhurst / 405 traffic this afternoon. With only about 10 minutes of warm-up time, we lined up against 30+ girls. Fountain Valley has 13 courts, so we were able to play an expanded format: 4x3 sets of singles + 4x3 sets of doubles = 24 total sets played. 11 of our 13 girls got to play 3 full sets of tennis this afternoon, 4 of them all singles. MVP honors today go to Neeka Barkhordar, only lady Lion to win 2 sets played. After defeating their top player 6-2 in the opening round, Neeka played a very tough set vs the Baron’s line 2 player, who seemed stronger than their line #1, outlasting Neeka 6-4. In the 3rd round, Neeka took care of a sub: 6-0. Well s was brilliant, if even in defeat, playing 3 close sets: 3-6, 3-6, and 5-6. Abby Godber and Chiara Manta; Lucca Lutz and Natalie Schumacher; Viana Poggi and Gia Banks-Meeker all won a set of doubles this afternoon. Line 3 doubles of Evelyn Natzke, Shuyang Zhang and Emily Myeurs had the most fun: making friends while playing hard with lots of their subs watching their doubles sets.y Next up:, Double Header tomorrow: red travel squad at Northwood; blue travel squad home vs Aliso.
