Laguna Hills, CA — How would you like to face the Great Bambino, then Lou Gehrig and then Ted Williams as a pitcher of yesteryear?!?! Well, that's what Villa park had to do today vs JSerra. VP started their ace at #2 today vs Brock Bowman.. in an epic 1.5 hour 1 set match, Brock fought back again and again, breaking serve at 5 - 6 to get into the tiebreaker where he got a quick lead and never looked back! Brock upset this player and then Zach Champine steps up and provides the knockout punch ALSO in a tiebreaker. BUT, the damage that Brock inflicted was insurmountable! Had VPark prevailed, I believe Zach has a tougher time and the result could have been different. Brock's win gave us a 4-2 lead at the end of round one. Danny Day swept his 3 and never got to play their good player as he retired with cramps after Zach's win. Zach and Brock dropped their last matches, both were spent from the 90 degree heat, but, we had the match in hand by that point... This was made possible by Sean Delaney/Gary Davidson's 3set sweep in doubles. Go Lions! Final Four!
