Fullerton, CA — The Lancers hosted their annual Sunny Hills/Wayne Walker Invitational on Saturday, September 28. There were a total of 40 teams who participated and a little over 1700 athletes racing! The top 50 in each race received a medal and Sunny Hills took home 15 medals!
The Senior Girls kicked off the 26th Annual Wayne Walker Invitational. Elyse Angelus led the girls with a time of 26:12.9 and Rebecca Bonca was close behind her with a time of 26:44.6.
The Senior Boys placed 5th out of 14 teams and was led by Robert Flores. Robert finished 25th with a time of 16:49.6 and ran a personal best on the course by 17 seconds! Langley Turrietta had a personal best by 38 seconds to finish 36th with a time of 17:04.8. Jonathan Kim finished 48th with a time of 17:33.6 and received a medal. Noah Barragan had a 3 second personal best to finish with a time of 17:41.7, Noah Rovira has a 1 minute and 22 second personal best with finish with a time of 18:37.7, and Chris Sanchez had a 1 minute and 10 second personal best to finish with a time of 20:44.7.
The Freshman Girls placed 12th out of 14 teams and was led by Carissa Paredes. Carissa finished 10th with a time of 20:57.5! Jeweliet Fields was close behind and finished 19th with a time of 21:23.9.
The Freshman Boys placed 17th out of 19 teams and was led by Sergio Perez. Sergio finished 61st with a time of 19:29.1!
The Junior Girls placed 2nd out of 10 teams and was led by Esther Fee. Esther finished 2nd with a 29 second personal best with a time of 19:08.1! Stephanie Gonzalez had a 2 second personal best with a time of 20:15.9 and finished 9th to secure a top 10 finish. Peyton Rushing placed 14th with a time of 20:35.4, Hanna Oltman placed 31st with a time of 21:33.3, and Samantha Mejia placed 42nd with a time of 22:07.9. Dayel Martinez had a 5 minute and 8 second personal best with a time of 25:14.1!
The Junior Boys were led by Emiliano Zavala who placed 27th with a 47 second personal best with a time of 16:53.7! Ryan West had a 2 minute and 1 second personal best with a time of 18:40.2.
The Sophomore Girls placed 11th out of 13 teams and was led by Julissa Herrera. Julissa had a 1 minute and 31 second personal best with a time of 22:17.3, placing 42nd! The biggest personal best comes from Alexia Ontiveros who finished with a time of 26:07.4, setting a new personal best by 6 minutes and 14 seconds!
The Sophomore Boys finished the day by placing 6th out of 16 teams and was led by Zachary Gomez. Zachary finished 2nd with a 33 second personal best with a time of 15:52.9! Nathaniel Valenzuela placed 19th with a time of 17:12.8. Noah Flores finished with a time of 17:48.9 and placed 39th! Justin Kim had a 1 minute and 22 second personal best with a time of 18:44.8, Ryan Kim had a 2 minute and 1 second personal best with a time of 19:18.4, and Eddie Kim had a 1 minute and 21 second personal best with a time of 22:35.9!
