Washington, NJ — 2024 North II, Group 3 State Sectional Championship ALVAREZ-GOMEZ REPEATS AS 400IH STATE SECTIONAL CHAMPION! FRIES (SP), WRIGHT (HJ), KESSLER (JAV) WIN STATE SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS! JR Isa Alvarez-Gomez ran 1:06.35 to become the N2, G3 State Sectional 400M Hurdle Champion! She also won the 2023 title! SR Kristen Fries threw a career best 39’ 04.75” to become the N2, G3 State Sectional Shot Put Champion! Kristen also placed 2nd in the Discus with another PR of 112’ 02”. JR Sanaa Wright again jumped a career tying best of 5’04” to become the N2, G3 State Sectional High Jump Champion! FR Alex Kessler threw a career best of 158’ 03” to become N2, G3 State Sectional Javelin Champion! Fourteen (14) athletes qualified to compete in the Group 3 State Championship Meet being held in Delsea next Friday and Saturday! The Girls team placed 4th while the Boys team placed 9th in the sectional meet. In addition to the 4 athletes mentioned above, the following have qualified for the State meet: JR Ellie Semple placed 2nd in the 400IH running 1:06.60. She also placed 4th in the 400M running a PR of 58.60. SR Will O’Keefe placed 2nd in the Javelin throwing a PR of 150’ 02”. He also placed 6th in the Pole Vault clearing 10’ 06”. The Girls 4x400M Relay placed 2nd running 4:04.47. FR Sydney Kessler placed 3rd in the Triple Jump with a PR of 35’ 11”. JR Alexandra McCoy placed 3rd in the Pole Vault improving her PR by 1 foot to 8’ 06”. SR Ben Fossella threw a Season Best 49’ 08” to place 3rd in the Shot Put. JR Christiano Pinto placed 4th in the Shot Put throwing a PR of 46’ 02”. SR Damara Barnes placed 4th in the Triple Jump jumping 35’ 07”. SOPH Alexa Nofi placed 5th in the Triple Jump jumping PR of 35’ 07”. SOPH Courtney Toy placed 5th in the 800M running 2:20.89. SOPH Lilly Costello placed 5th in the 400IH running 1:08.84.
