Halstead, KS — Halstead, KS 10/3/24 Halstead Race Times/Recap Link to Official Race Times: https://timerguys.com/2024-halstead-xc-invitational/ On October 3rd, 2024 Goddard Cross Country raced in their 5th race of the season in Halstead, Kansas! Much excitement surrounded Halstead throughout the week as it was a course we felt we could run some good race times on and get some good results! We had some excellent results yesterday especially at the JV level! Below are some of the Highlights from Halstead! Highlights of Halstead: 1. Varsity Girls Olivia Brownell earned a medal and ran a season best 22:03 placing 9th overall! She has been working extremely hard in practice to get back to her Freshmen year PR of 21:38. This time gives her a great chance of qualifying for State and will look to get back into the 21s at Trinity. I think if she can get back into the 21s she will have a great shot at qualifying individually for State. Adeline ran a new Season best of 26:15 beating her old time by 12 seconds! Adeline has been battling through injuries and sickness, but found a way to still perform at a High level and run a season best! Well done Adeline! The girls team took 8th place overall out of 9 teams. 2. Varsity Boys The Varsity Boys placed 3rd overall in what was a very competitive meet! Before the meet Hutch Trinity was a school we wanted to push us as we approach Wichita Trinity and post season competition. Hutch Trinity ran comparable times to Goddard Eisenhower at Rim Rock. The boys did not run their best race times yesterday, but raced well. After a quick turnaround from Rim Rock the boys will look to take advantage of the 3 days off to rest and gear up for post season competition. Our Regional placement was announced. This year we have a group of boys I believe could qualify for State as a team based on our placement. I have has projected to finish 2nd with the top 3 teams going to State. Staying healthy and training smart will be our top priority as we approach post season competition. Luke Griffith took 3rd place overall and medalled narrowly losing to Brayden Walker of SouthEast of Saline by 1 second. This was a great race for Luke. Nathan Lewis earned a medal placing 18th overall passing a lot of runners at the end with an excellent kick. 3. JV Girls Zoe Liedl earned a medal placing 20th overall and ran a new season best yesterday beating her old time by 18 seconds! She was really able to find her stride yesterday and will look to go after her PR next week at Trinity! Rachel Povall earned a medal yesterday placing 25th overall! Well done Rachel! 4. Cooper Stelling earned a medal yesterday placing 20th overall and ran a new PR beating his hold PR by 49 seconds! This young man keeps finding ways to PR each and every race as a Freshman! Cooper will look to keep the momentum going as we race at Trinity a meet he could easily PR again in with cooler temps. Brendan Martling earned a medal yesterday placing 25th overall! He did not run a PR or season best, but Brendan ran an excellent race and felt much better after dealing with an ankle injury. Cole Bennington ran a new season best beating his old time by 1:37!
