Sonora, CA — Dear Parents, I am thrilled to share that the 2024 Team Camp in Sonora, CA, was a huge success. Our wrestlers were introduced to various wrestling styles from across the country, spanning from Hawaii to Florida. They worked diligently on solid techniques that will be invaluable in the upcoming season. Additionally, they experienced different wrestling cultures, drilled, and competed with wrestlers from other teams, gaining a broader perspective of the vast wrestling community beyond our Nevada roots. You might have noticed that your wrestler brought back a cultural item from another participant. We also shared our culture by giving out stickers, coins, and t-shirts. Each item holds a story, whether it’s about a particular match, a helping hand, or a memorable practice. We hope your wrestler has been sharing these stories with you. Our wrestlers were encouraged to journal their learnings, marking the beginning of our journaling practice that will continue throughout the regular season. The trip to the Pot Holes on our way home was the icing on the cake, with smiles all around as the wrestlers enjoyed a refreshing dip before returning to Nevada. I am incredibly proud of how our wrestlers represented our community and team. They volunteered, stepped up as leaders, asked insightful questions, and supported others at every turn. Now, they have a small piece of homework. Each wrestler should write at least one thank you card to someone who helped them get to camp. This could be someone who encouraged them, provided support, or helped financially. The message should reflect on how the camp impacted them and how it will help in the upcoming season. Thank you all for your support in getting the kids to camp. We had a record number of wrestlers this year and truly appreciated all the help with coordination and fundraising efforts.
