Honesdale, PA — The Honesdale Boys Track & Field team were defeated in the final regular meet versus Scranton 98 to 52. Wyatt Rutherford led the hornets with 2 first place finishes with victories in the Shot Put and Discus. Robert Quinn won the Pole Vault with a career best vault of 12ft-0in. On the track Mason Avery won the 100m dash with a career best of 11.2 seconds. Peter Pham won the 400m run. Logan Novobilski won the the 800m run in 2:08.7. Aiden Collins finished second in both the 200m and 400m runs. In the hurdles Owen Parenti finished in 2nd in the 300m hurdles.
The Honesdale Girls Track & Field team competed very and came away with a big victory versus Scranton 99-51. Leading the Hornets was Roz Mikuak breaking her recently broken school record in the pole vault with a vault of 9ft 9in. Roz also won the 100m dash, javelin and finished third in the shot put. Also in the field Rebecca Dadig won the long jump and the triple jump with a career best of 33ft-9in. On the track Brenna Dahlgren continued her dominance this season in the 1600m and 3200m runs with two first places finishes. Alyssa Czekai won the 800m run with a time of 2:33.9. The team of Avi Spry, Olivia Pinto, Haliey Brady and Haley Kissolovege won the 3200m Relay. Finally, in the field Cassidy Spaulding won the shot put, Elektra Kehagias won the Discus and Elizabeth Meagher won the high jump. Many other Hornets finished in second and third place competing strong versus the Knights.
The Hornets are back in action Thursday in the Jordan Relays at Scranton HS.
