Chillicothe, MO — The Chillicothe Hornets, all seniors, went into the Midland Empire Conference Tournament having never defeated Maryville and having never placed higher than third in the conference. They accomplished both today at Green Hills Golf Course. The Hornets shot a team score of 312, beating their previous tournament best by over 10 shots, and took second place in the MEC. Only Leblond, the defending MEC champions, shot lower with a blistering 298 team score. Three Chillicothe golfers earned All-MEC honors. Jackson Trout's 74 was good for 4th place. Grant Leamer, playing in his first MEC Tournament, shot 77 and finished 6th. James Mathew's 80 earned him 8th place. Carson Samm and Tyler Stephens each had one of their best rounds of the season, shooting 77 and 85 respectively. See the scoresheet for all individual and team scores.
