Loch Shelgrade, NY — Five Ridgefield wrestlers travelled north to SUNY Sullivan to compete against the best wrestlers from the East Coast. Over 500 wrestelrs from 150+ teams and 8 states competed in the tourney. Ridgefield took one senior, Victor Petkov, 2 Sophomores Leo Moore and Johnny Carrozza and two freshman Carter Lanzilli and Dylan Meyers. Wrestlers had to be accepted into the tourney, placing in their state qualifiers or state tourney so there were no easy matches. This years tourney was especially tough, with teh 126 bracket called the toughest bracket in the last 10 years. Victor put some fantastic wins in his run towards a sixth place finish. Johnny took out the 9th ranked 126 pounder in New England. Finishing 2-2 with losses to 2 Long Island wrestlers. Dylan had a few exciting matches, including an overtime battle with Ryan Ball of Somers NY, falling just short of reaching day 2. Dyaln finished 2-2. Leo and Carter had tough draws against seeded wrestlers but gained valuable experience to take back. Ridgefield made an impression on the NY section 9 organizers and is expecting to come back in 2025 with a larger squad.
