Lowell, MI — Ionia traveled to Lowell today to compete in the MHSAA individual districts. Todays districts was arguably one of the hardest tournaments of the weekend with some very high level competition. Ionia had 2 wrestlers take 3rd place qualifying for Regionals. Senior Carter Castillo at 138 lbs went 4-1, with his only loss on the day to the #1 seed, bringing home a 3rd place medal with a win in the 3rd place match over the #11 ranked wrestler in the state. Senior Hunter Barker also took 3rd place today going 3-1 at 150 lbs. Hunters only loss was to the #1 seed, and all 3 of Hunters wins were by pin. Hunter Barker also recorded his 100th career win in the blood round! Also earning a win today but coming just short of placing were wrestlers Chad Campbell at 113 and Ricky Charon at 106. Individual Regional will be next Saturday at Allendale.
