Performance

Matt worked through a lot of setbacks with our autonomous, starting the night before we left for Rochester, working on the code any chance he could before and in-between matches. With the help of the rest of the programming team, they were able to problem-solve and get the autonomous working before the last match.

Mary Schwedatschenko

Mary and Bethany created an amazing pit display that was heads and tails above anything the Mecha Spartans have ever displayed before. We were noted by many teams for out pit, and also the visuals that we brought with us into judging.

Joshua Walton

Josh spent the event taking rigorous notes while scouting every team during every single match. With his hard work, we were able to evaluate the other teams and have a solid plan of who we would choose if we made it into the finals.

Brayden Doherty

Brayden did an excellent job being part of our drive team for the day. Working tirelessly to make it to every match with very little time for breaks in-between. The drive team, along with our programmers also enabled us to finish in 10th place.

Dexter Stapley

Dexter did an excellent job being the coach of our drive team for the day. Working tirelessly to make it to every match with very little time for breaks in-between. The drive team, along with our programmers also enabled us to finish in 10th place.

Ben Draves

Ben did an excellent job being part of our drive team for the day. Working tirelessly to make it to every match with very little time for breaks in-between. The drive team, along with our programmers also enabled us to finish in 10th place. Ben also worked to help problem solve other team robots to help them get a working robot for a alliance match.

Ryan Yahoudy

Along with Josh, Ryan excelled at scouting throughout the entire day, with little to no breaks. He scouted every match, tracking scoring and how the robots completed the game.

Bethany Bearce

Bethany saw a problem with our pit-display from years past, and decided to focus on improvements to it. Along with Mary, they worked extremely hard, and had an amazing pit set-up that showcased who we are as Mecha Spartans. Bethany also did a great job of scouting, and even helping another alliance team to repair broken aspects of their robot.

Successful First Competition of the Season

Penfield, NY — The BH-BL High School robotics team, The Mecha Spartans completed our first of three state qualifier events over the weekend at Penfield High School, just outside of Rochester. It was a very successful trip and event, where our team finished the day ranking in 10th place out of the 24 teams that participated. Overall, it was a very fun trip for the students, and provided a lot of learning opportunities that we took home with us to improve ourselves and our robot in preparation for our next two competitions in January.
