Thompsonville, MI — It was a cold night at Crystal Mountain for this year's first race but no one even noticed due to the excitement for getting the season underway. This was the first race for Caledonia as a part of the Lake Michigan Ski Conference and the race showcased how good all of the teams are this season. Caledonia took third in this race. "Coming into Wednesday's race, we knew that it was going to be a learning experience. Our team has not trained in gates yet this year. We have skied a ton but there just has not been enough depth to set courses until this week. Our guys did a great job and we learned a lot at the race." Coach Petrosky, "My returning starters from last year really stepped up and led the team. Seniors Brayden Smith (10th SL & 12th GS), Ben Diegel (11th SL & 15th GS) and Cohen Broomfield (13th SL & 13th GS) all scored for the team along with junior DJ Potgeter who took 5th in Slalom and sophomore James Diegel who 18th in GS. My guys skied hard, we were a little cautious on our first runs and also had a equipment failures but overall it was a great race and gives us things to work on before the Benzie Invitational." The Scots next race in the Benzie Invitational at Crystal Mountain on Monday January 22nd. The JV team had some great performances and our skiers are really pushing themselves for a shot at racing varsity in an upcoming race. Leading the way for the JV in GS were Luke Smith, James Pritchard, James Harper and Rydik Wrubel. Leading the way in slalom were Peter Calhoun, James Harper, Rydik Wrubel and James Prichard
