Lakewood, CO — Here is a not-so-quick recap on our athletes’ performances at the state track meet.
BOYS STATE QUALIFIERS
• Robbie Bristol tied for 3rd place in 4A in the pole vault with a vault of 13’10”. This follows Robbie’s 4th place finish at state last year as a junior.
• Zeke Werner finished his HS career with a PR at state. Zeke vaulted 12’4” and finished 13th in 4A.
• Josh Gentry vaulted 11’10” and finished 16th in 4A.
• Sam Janes had his best high jump mark of the season. He cleared 6’3” and finished 4th in 4A.
• Charlie Scott threw the discus 147’4” which earned him 6th place in 4A. Charlie was seeded 10th in the discus coming into the meet and outperformed his seed nicely. In the shot put, Charlie finished 12th in 4A with a throw of 45’7.5”.
• Sam Hoghaug qualified for state in four events and competed in three events at the state meet. In the 400m, Sam ran a PR of 50.90 and finished 14th in 4A. In the 800m, Sam blasted another PR of 1:58.14 and finished 16th. Finally, Sam anchored the 4x400m relay to a time of 3:31.41 and a 15th place finish in 4A.
• Ethan Emmons ran anchor on two state qualifying relays. In the 4x100m relay, Ethan contributed to a 16th place finish in a time of 44.43. In the 4x200m relay, Ethan brought the baton across the line in 1:33.38 for another 16th place finish.
• Terrance Dantzler also ran on two state qualifying relays. In the 4x100m relay, Terrance ran the second leg, contributing to a 16th place finish in a time of 44.43. In the 4x200m relay, Terrance led off the race from the blocks for a team that ran 1:33.38 for another 16th place finish.
• Gavin Horvath provided senior leadership for two state qualifying relays. In the 4x100m relay, Gavin ran the third leg, contributing to a 16th place finish in a time of 44.43. In the 4x200m relay, Gavin again ran the third leg, helping to move the stick around in 1:33.38 for another 16th place finish.
• Georgi Bruvold led off the 4x400m relay. The squad ran 3:31.41 and earned a 15th place finish in 4A.
• Grant Hoehne ran on both the 4x400m and 4x800m relay teams. The 4x400m group ran 3:31.41 and earned a 15th place finish in 4A. The 4x800m group finished 18th in 4A with a time of 8:41.59.
• Drew McCutcheon also ran on both the 4x400m and 4x800m relay teams. The 4x400m group ran 3:31.41 and earned a 15th place finish in 4A. The 4x800m group finished 18th in 4A with a time of 8:41.59.
• Garrett Locke qualified for state as a freshman in the 4x800m relay. He contributed to a time of 8:41.59 and an 18th place finish in 4A.
• Andrew Braun also qualified for state as a freshman in the 4x800m relay. He contributed to a time of 8:41.59 and an 18th place finish in 4A.
• Kailer McGuire ran the opening leg of the 4x100m relay at state. He got the team started off on the right foot on their way to a 16th place finish in a time of 44.43.
• Preston Wysocki ran the second leg of the 4x200m relay at state. He was a part of the team that ran 1:33.38 for a 16th place finish in 4A.
• Ethan Ramsay qualified for the state meet as a relay alternate. Although he did not have the opportunity to run at the state meet, he was a supportive member of the 4x100m relay team and ready to run if called upon.
GIRLS STATE QUALIFIERS
• Maggie Killoy earned a trip to the state meet to compete in the pole vault. She was a leader for us all year in this event.
• Julia Thomas qualified for state in three events after running at state in two relays last year. In the 800m, Julia ran 2:20.30 and finished 15th in 4A. Julia also anchored two relays at state. In the 4x400m relay, Julia brought the baton across the line in 11th place with a time of 4:10.89. In the 4x800m relay, Julia was a part of the team that ran 9:57.62 and finished on the podium in 9th place. The team’s time was the fastest we have run in many years.
• Lauren McDowell qualified for state in four events for the second year in a row. Lauren competed in the 100m dash and 200m dash as an individual. She captured the silver medal for second place in 4A in the 200m dash (again for the second year in a row). Lauren set a new PR of 25.14 in the prelims and then broke that with a 25.04 in the finals! Lauren also ran the anchor leg on the 4x100m and 4x200m relays. The 4x100m relay team finished 5th in 4A with a time of 49.37. The 4x200m relay team smashed the school record in the event with a 1:44.41 clocking in the preliminary round. In the finals, Lauren anchored the group to a 1:44.71 time and a bronze medal for finishing third in 4A.
• Ellie Stewart qualified for state in three sprint relays and returns to state after racing there last year as a freshman. She ran the second leg on the 4x100m relay team that finished 5th in 4A with a time of 49.37. She also ran the second leg on the 4x200m relay team that smashed the school record in the event with a 1:44.41 clocking in the preliminary round and ran a 1:44.71 time in the finals to earn a bronze medal for finishing third in 4A. In the 4x400m relay, Ellie helped the team finish in 11th place with a time of 4:10.89.

• Shayla Miller qualified for state in the 4x800m relay. Shayla was a part of the team that ran 9:57.62 and finished on the podium in 9th place. The team’s time was the fastest we have run in many years.
• Lucia Campillo qualified for the state meet as a relay alternate in three relays. Although she did not have the opportunity to run at the state meet, Lucia was present for all three days of the state meet and supported the 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x400m relay teams.
• Hannah Smith qualified for the state meet as a relay alternate. Although she did not have the opportunity to run at the state meet, she was a supportive member of the 4x800m relay team and ready to run if called upon.
