Lockport, IL — PNTRACK PLACES 8TH 8th place doesn’t sound impressive until you look at the list of athletes who did not make the trip. Prom was the reason for most of these absences. Amoo-Otoo, Anderson, Armstrong, Ashiru, Cardillo, Floyd, Gavras, Gramley, Kuye, McCormick, Mescioglu, Miller, Morris, Patterson, Seifert, Stahl, Tracey, Ulrey, Vanichtheeranont, Williams, and Weirs were absentees. All 21 of the guys listed would have been entered in this meet. At full strength, we would have won this 16-team A-B-C meet (the A-B-C format rewards depth, and we are a deep team) We lost to 7 teams and were victorious over 8 teams. Can you imagine a football team beating another team in spite of the absence of 21 front-line players? (football teams don’t deal with Prom!) Did any other team have to deal with Prom? Yes, Plainfield East also had Prom. No disrespect for Plainfield East, but we outscored them 92-8. Here’s another positive… We won 27 medals at this meet and only one of those medals was won by a senior. Not only are we a deep team but we are very young. In addition, 13 of those 21 front-line guys who missed this meet are underclassmen. OMAR WINS GOLD We only won two gold medals at this meet. Omar Coleman (sophomore) had “Lisfranc Surgery” to rebuild his foot last fall after a devastating football injury. This was Omar’s first time long jumping for us this season. 20’8” Omar also ran his best lead leg on our 4x1 (11.2) and ran a PR 11.31 in the 100m (pic above). Omar’s 11.31 ranks FS Pntrack #5 All-Time behind Marcellus Moore, DeVaughn Hrobowski, Tommy Harris, and Kapri Bibbs. HALL WINS GOLD Gavin Hall was our other winner (3200). Gavin seemed to run the entire race 10m behind Colin Mclaughlin of DGS. Gavin led the race for approximately one second (the final second). Gavin is only a freshman. CZERWINSKI ONLY 0.12 FROM RECORD Thomas Czerwinski had the tough assignment of running in the “A” 800 as a freshman. His lack of sprint speed showed in the first 100m and landed him in the back as the 16 runners hit the straightway. Thomas continued to pass runner after runner, placing 6th in a race that featured times of 1:56, 1:58, 1:58, 2:01, and 2:02. Thomas ran 2:02.26 (PN freshman record is 2:02.14). Pntrack FS #3 All-Time (only Kevin Capodice, Andrew Sandoval, and Easton Miller ran faster times, and all were sophomores). Pntrack #17 All-Time. Thomas ranks IL #8 among freshmen. FARNUM STRONG TWICE Ewan Farnum is fighting for our 4th sport on our 4x8 team. 800 2:02.84 4x4 split 52.6 D-CREW 12 FOR 12 Our D-Crew had 12 chances to win a medal (800, 1600, 3200) and won 12 medals. Alex also anchored our 3rd place 4x1 team. To cap the night, Alex placed 4th in the B-200. PAULY PRS x2 Zander Pauly normally runs the 4x1, 4x2, and 4x4 for us. At Lockport, Zander got the chance to run the 100 and 200. 100m 11.41 (C-3rd) 200m 23.51 (C-2nd) Zander also put us in the lead after two legs in the 4x1 (placed 3rd).
