The boys got started a little slow and that put them behind from the first play of the game. Boys finally settled down and held strong for 20 minutes. Ahmed played amazingly at 10 leading the team and drawing attention from opposition. Sam was steady as always at number 9. A key difference maker in this game was experience. The senior heavy Glen Ellyn team has many players who have played since middle school and it showed in their passing and support. Taft had many sophomores and several upperclassmen who are playing their first year of rugby. We had many highlights. Center Christian Romero and 8-man Navin O' Shaunessey were tackling super stars! Ahmed Alyasiry had a great game from the 10 position and got the only try on a blocked kick, he was able to fall on in the Try zone. Sam Andriacchi followed it up with a great drop kick on goal for the conversion! Forward play was strong from both props, Dax Hutchinson and Isaiaha Ramirez. Rodrigo Espinal had a head up play off the scrum to flip the field on a 50 yard run. Just to mention a few.
