Recap
Albion, MI — Today at University Lanes your Varsity Lady Comet Bowlers competed against the Homer Trojans. We have shot some big games in this house and you could see the confidence on the girl's faces as they started out with baker games of 176 and 188 to take a ten point lead in the match. When starting the regular team games I had the girls keep the same line up and work to control the pocket. As the match went on it became a battle with making spares but they managed to gain another 8 points and win the match quickly. To keep things interesting the bowlers used last games stats to choose the line up. Spares were still tough to get as the mental side of the game was at play. With several strikes they put together a reputable 840 team game. With another test of their adaptability your Comets did well with a 28-2 win!! High games go to Makenzie LaFountain 203 and 214 for a 417 PR set and Kaytie Warren with a 189 (346) set. GO COMETS!!
On Thursday, the Hanover Varsity Boys Bowling team took the 12 mile bus ride to University Lanes in Albion to bowl the Trojans of Homer. Team consisting of Lucas Cain, Nick Schuette, Sebastian Ramsey, Landon Murrell, Elijah Rodabaugh and Joe Davis split baker games but, took over pin fall giving them a 6 to 4 lead. Heading into game one of match play the Comets came out a little sluggish only taking 2 points. Heading into match play two down 11-8 and 85 pins, the Comets let their bowling balls do the talking with five frames of flawless bowling, leading the way was Landon with a five bagger. Heading into the final 5 frames the Comets were looking to take 8 points for the win but ended up with 7 to force a tie match. Leading the way in game two were Joe Davis 197 and Landon Murrell NEW PR of 220. Two bakers games with total pin fall are required to break a tie. Hanover came out slow in the first baker losing 115 to 180. Hanover regrouped for the second baker rolling 198 but was out bowled by Homer’s 214 which gave Homer the win with total pins of 394 to 303. Leading the way was Landon Murrell 220 (372) and Joe Davis 197 (378). Next match is Wednesday 2/15 against the Pirates of Napoleon at Suburban Lanes.
The JV bowling team went to University Lanes tonight to bowl against the Trojans of Homer. We split into two teams with a little help from our competition. The team made up of Abby Barba, Brooke Hadley, Noah DeKamp, Ella Dekker and Grant Cure came out strong winning the bakers 10-0 setting the pace for the regular games. The Comets pulled together a 22-8 win with a 1309 series.
The second team of Kilee Feldpausch, Gabriel O’Connor, and Cooper Donders (along with 2 Homer boys) struggled tonight, and while they didn’t take the win, they worked hard to figure out the lanes and kept a positive attitude.
Your JV Comets were lead by a stellar performance by Abby Barba who shot a 170 PR (309 series) and Grant Cure with a 175 (305 series).
Practice tomorrow at Jax 60!
