Recap
Walnut, CA — Congratulations to Sebastian Bray! Sebastian won his race on Friday, and we couldn't be prouder of him. Led by his strong showing, and because of great performances from the rest of our team, including a top 10 finish from Andrew Slay, our varsity boys team finished 2nd in their race (with a big thank you to Liam de Moor who beat Torrance's 6th runner after a points tie). It was a great race, and we're so happy with everyone's races.
The varsity girls hung tough in their race under some rough conditions. Four of our six girls were running the Mt SAC course for the first time, and for the most part, they enjoyed it. Mt SAC is always a hard course, especially for first time runners or, for some of our girls, just returning from injury and being thrown into a race on a hot day with 3 really hard hills. But we're excited for how our girls ran yesterday and how they're progressing toward the end of the season. I wanted to make special mention of Ella Clapper who ran a great race in her first time at Mt SAC.
Our freshman boys won their race! We had strong showings across the board with 3 runners in the top 25 and all 5 scoring runners under 20 minutes. Between our great freshman boy team that's Shawn to be strong all season, and 3 freshman girls on varsity, the El Modena team looks like it's going to be strong for several years to come.
I wish I had space to congratulate everyone on the team, but a couple more quick hits: 4 sophomore boys went under 20 minutes, and our JV boys team looked strong, and motivated to put in some great performances. Our sole JV girl runner, Juana, had an intimidating race, standing alone on the start line, but she did well in her race.
We couldn't be prouder of all of our athletes. It was a pleasure and privilege to be there cheering them on.
