Recap
Team minus Abby
Jackson , MI — We competed in the conference tournament at a cool and wet Sharp Park golf course. We had a shot at capturing the conference championship but fell short today. We finished that portion of the season in 3rd place. Golf is a tough game!!! Seems like all you gotta do is hit a ball that isn’t moving. Not as easy as it looks!!!
I think the girls will agree that we didn’t put our best foot forward today. More on that later….
Golf may be played as an individual against other schools but it is very much a team sport. It takes all parts to complete a goal!!! Lots of things in golf can apply to the lives of these girls as they mature and become adults. How do you face adversity? How do you improve on what you are doing? How do you stand up for what is right? Can you do your best even though it doesn’t seem like it’s in the cards that day??? These are all situations that we were faced with at some point if not today but recently. Each one of these girls have learned lessons so far even if they don’t realize it.
Drew, Ella, Danni, Summer, Sophia, and Abby. Each have improved from the start of the season. Each has faced or is facing one of the examples I mentioned. I am fortunate to have been able to watch each of these young ladies grow and figure out this thing called life. For that I am thankful and grateful!!!
Now back to the foot thing…….. As a TEAM, we still have a chance to make some lifelong memories on top of what we have done. The finish is not what we wanted, we could have done better today. Someone once told me that there is 2 matches that matter, regionals and the state meet. Can’t lie…I really wanted to win today so they could experience a conference championship!!! We got a second chance and we start from scratch. Nothing we accomplished matters now other than the memories and friendships you created!!! We have a chance to extend our season on October 3rd at the regional tournament. IF we put our best foot forward and play to the capability that I have seen we will advance to the state tournament. I truly believe the best is yet to come for these ladies…….
“Just do better”
To be continued at the state meet!!!
