Recap
The team, the team, the team!!!!!
Grass Lake, MI — We had a big day today!!! We competed in the 4th jamboree of the season at Calderone golf club. This is a difficult course to walk and the hardest we play.
The ladies stayed focused on the task at hand. Scores were high for everyone that played today. The greens are hilly and quick as linoleum. With all that, we finished in FIRST place at what I believe was our most important match!!! 2 schools use this course as their home and we beat them both. Currently we are in first place for the jamboree portion and gained a 3 point cushion over Grass Lake.
The Swihart sisters tied with a 56. Drew battled a sore back which is no easy task for a golfer!! Danni played a solid round but told me she felt like she was close to doing much better. Couple breaks for each player and they could have done better.
Summer Barnaby had a roller coaster round today!! The rough was thick and seemed to enjoy her golf balls. Spent some time looking for them on the wrong side of the fairway……Summer!!!!! She finished with a 59. Not her best but expect she will improve on it.
Ella Dekker was cruising along today. Was heading towards her best round and whamo!!!!! 2 holes got the best of her. She is striking the golf ball with confidence. The scores will come…….be patient grasshopper!!!! She carded a 61.
Sophia Donders has improved and consistently challenging the first four. She is hitting the ball well and I expect she will continue to work on her swing. Making consistent contact, just needs to gain some distance!!! She carded a 63 today.
Abby Barnaby has steadily improved her swing since joining the team. She is gaining invaluable experience while competing in matches. The kid has a personality that is infectious to all around her. Always smiling no matter how she is doing!!!
Today turned out to be much better than I anticipated!!! To have a 3 point cushion after today is huge!!! We compete in the Michigan Center jamboree tomorrow at Lakeland hills golf course. Wide open track that will be much easier than today. I look for lower scores all around tomorrow!!!
Awesome job today ladies!!!
