The first quarter was tight with JSerra getting on the board first with a strike by Maddox to take a 1-0 lead. Drew also scored in the quarter to take a 2-0 lead, but the Lions let in a late goal giving them a narrow 2-1 lead at the end of 1. JSerra bounced back in the 2nd with a couple of goals from Will and a lazer beam from Steve to take a 6-3 lead into the half. The 3rd quarter started strong for JSerra with an outside goal by Maddox extending the Lion’s lead to 7-3. Unfortunately, that was the last of the good times as Brunswick went on a 4-0 run, aided two 5 meter goals to tie it a 7-7. The 5 meter fest continued for Brunswick in the 4th as they got 2 more goals from the charity stripe. Drew scored to tie it at 8, giving JS a glimmer of hope, but a late lob goal sealed the deal for the Greenwich kids. Brunswick went on to beat San Ramon Valley in their next game making it to the semis of this tournament. That confirms the travesty of seeding them 14th. Terrible job by tournament organizers in having the 3rd seed (JSerra) play what will end up being a top 4 team in the first game.
