Recap
Goddard, KS — Fall 2021 Regional Meet Race Recap
October 23, 2021
Today the Goddard Lions competed in their last meet of the season at Regionals in Great Bend, Kansas. When I took on the head cross country job this Fall I had 2 major goals I wanted to accomplish.
1. I wanted to change the culture of Goddard High School Cross Country Program.
2. I wanted every runner to run their best race (PR) at their last race of the season.
Today at our Regional meet as I look back on these 2 goals I can say that we met them if not exceeded them! Our program took a tremendous turn in the right direction and I am ecstatic to see what is in store for us in the coming seasons with such a young team! Today at our Regional Meet 6/7 of our varsity runners ran their best race all season!
It has been an absolute joy to coach this team this season and I could not be more proud of our runners! Everyone is coachable, helps out when asked to, and exemplifies all that it means to be a student athlete! Below are our race times from today's meet.
Varsity Girls 5K
Today Olivia Brownell ran her best race all season and ran a 21:38! I cannot speak more highly of Olivia and her drive to better herself everyday. Her 1st 5K of the season in Wellington she ran a 22:42. She took a minute off her first race and continued to get faster as the season progressed! Well done Olivia!
Varsity Boys 5K
At the Boys Varsity level 5/6 of our runners PR'd today! The boys ran their hearts out and gave it all they had at our regional meet. Everyone should be proud of the work they put in this season! I am extremely excited to watch our young men grow over the years and improve upon their race times. The future is VERY BRIGHT!
Luke Griffith - 19:04 PR
Ayden Smith - 19:24 PR
Nathan Lewis - 19:37 PR
Hudson Donaghue - 19:53 PR
Nathan Harkman - 20:12 PR
Jack Allen - 21:00
Team Uniforms may be returned at any time to Coach Andrews room D-07. I will be sending out reminders to make sure I have all items checked out returned.
We plan to host a team banquet in the future to reflect on the season, hand out awards, and have a nice dinner. More information will be coming out in the future in regards to when this will happen. Parents if you would like to help out with the banquet we can plan those details once we establish a date. Coach Ford will be putting together some awards and we will also be handing out letters/pins to those who ran in a minimum 3 varsity races.
It has been an absolute pleasure! Coach Ford and I look forward to next season and preparing this coming summer! I would encourage everyone to be involved in Track this Spring or some Spring Sport to prepare for next season.
If you ever need anything please feel free to reach out.
GO LIONS!
